Egor Orudzhev tops charts at Motorland

Egor Orudzhev scored the fastest lap of the day at Motorland Aaragon.

The Russian, driving for Arden Motorsport, led in the afternoon session by scoring a 1:40.675. Tom Dillmann (AVF) took second place and improved the third place scored in the morning. Also improving was SMP Racing’s Matthieu Vaxiviere, who rounded out the top-5 just 0.053 away from the lead.

The closing stages of the session were pretty eventful with 11 drivers covered by less than nine tenths of a second! It’s been a successful day for the series after the good sporting character showcased in Barcelona. Aurelien Panis (Adren Motorsport) ended up in 4th followed by Beitske Visser (Teo Martin Motorsport) and Louis Deletraz. The Swissman, fielded by Fortec Motorsports, has been on top until the last 30 minutes. He ended up in front of Yu Kanamaru (Teo Martin Motorsport) with only 2 tenths of a second.

Roy Nissany took 8th place for Lotus in 1:41.209 followed by Pietro Fittipaldi (Fortec Motorsports) and Johnny Cecotto (RP Motorsport). The Venezuelan continued to work with the Italian squad and edged Alfonso Celis (AVF) who suffered from heavy flu symptoms. Two red flags occurred throughout the day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, both to recover the car driven by Giuseppe Cipriani (Durango Racing). Matevos Isaakyan (SMP Racing) also needed a tow for the pits.

Egor Orudzhev (Arden Motorsport)“I’m satisfied about our job today. We worked great as this morning I was not happy with the car balance and the guys in the team changed for the afternoon. In the second session, the pace was good, and we were in the position where we want to be. We’ve just been unlucky with the driveshaft failure, but we just missed 40 seconds before the finish of the session”.
Aurelien Panis (Arden Motorsport): “We made a good job, setting second time in the morning session behind Vaxiviere. I think it’s really positive to be back here and be again on top of the timing as in Barcelona and we have to continue like that also during the second, and last day of testing tomorrow”.
