Red Bull Junior Leeds finished in 2nd position by just 0.387s in the third race of the weekend at the opening round of the season on the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit.
The Arden driver has every reason to be happy with the weekend after securing a big haul of points to leave the opening round at Brands Hatch 4th overall in the standings after an impressive debut racing on British soil.
Post-race Leeds was very upbeat reflecting back on his opening round of the MSA Formula Championship:
Luis Leeds "Yes it's fantastic, a great way to start. The Arden guys have had the car hooked up all weekend and all credit to them."
"Only Race 2 was a bit disappointing, really enjoying pushing through to third but then a red flag and some rain dropped me down to ninth. That's one thing to work on, racing in the wet, not something we do a lot back home! (joking)
"So now we've just got to keep the momentum going, carry the great pace through testing and this weekend into the rest of the year. I'm just loving it, not homesick at all, why would I be, it was 15 degrees yesterday, almost tropical!" (he laughed)
“I think the most important thing from this weekend was to get a decent haul of points which we have definitely done. We’ve been working so hard during the winter. The car has been perfect and Arden are doing a great job.”
TRS Arden team manager Ben Bloomfield was full of praise for Leeds after an impressive debut weekend in the MSA Formula Championship after flying over from his native Australia to compete in the championship
Ben Bloomfield, TRS Arden Team Manager: “Luis is one of the hardest workers we’ve got. He’s put in so much effort and it’s great to see that rewarded.”
The next instalment of Ford EcoBoost-powered action comes on 16/17 April at Donington Park.
