Noel Leon will race in Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine with Arden Motorsport this year after being signed by the Red Bull Junior Team.

The 17-year-old followed up his 2020 NACAM Formula 4 title by winning the 2021 United States F4 crown in the two-race season finale at Circuit of the Americas.

“I’ve embarked on an incredible roller-coaster ride and I am really excited about all that’s coming my way in 2022,” said Leon.

“Red Bull showed great confidence by taking me on-board the junior program, which is something I take great pride in and I’m very grateful for the opportunity.

It’s fantastic that I will be racing on the most famous European Formula 1 tracks, with Monaco being the obvious standout round.

The fact that I will be racing with multiple title-winning outfit Arden Motorsport is all I could wish for. The team has proved to be very capable and there’s a great atmosphere within the team.”

Ben Salter, Arden FRECA Team Manager commented: “We are very proud to be running a Red Bull Junior driver, who will be the first to compete in the FRECA championship. Noel has no experience racing in Europe so it will be a very challenging year for him learning the tracks and the car, but we’ve seen huge potential after a two-day test in late December.”

“Noel is an extremely bright young man and even though we have only spent a short amount of time together, he has already impressed us with the package he brings to the table.

“We’ll make sure to hand him all he needs to reach his full potential and are very excited to start this journey together with him.”
